A bath can be so much more than a quick rinse. Here's how to turn it into a genuine ritual that restores your body and mind.
Why a Bath Ritual Works
There's real science behind why a warm bath helps you unwind. Soaking in warm water raises your core body temperature, and the subsequent cool-down signals your body to produce melatonin — making it one of the most effective natural sleep aids available. The key difference between a bath and a ritual is intention. A ritual is something you prepare for, something that signals to your nervous system: it's time to slow down.
Step 1: Set the Scene
Before you even turn on the tap, prepare your space:

Water temperature matters. Too hot can stress the cardiovascular system — aim for warm to comfortably hot, around 100–104°F. Then add your botanicals:
